Have Courage

We were out tonight doing errands with all of the kids. We had dinner in the car and we were having a fairly nice time. During a lull in our conversations Andy speaks up. The following is what she had to tell us.

Andy "Mom, I have decided that we need to tell all the old people to just have courage".
Mom "Um, okay....why?"
Andy "Courage to stay alive, I think it is hard to stay alive when you are sooooo old"

That's my girl, the motivational speaker in a slightly morbid kind of way.

Mission: Seek and Destroy

Porter has re-discovered his nerf gun (or his "Pishoo Pishoo as he calls it). We found some nerf darts for him to shoot that are relatively harmless unless of course he is aiming it and shooting it within an inch of your face. Don't worry, it only took him doing that once and catching daddy off guard to realize that was a BIG mistake. This morning he came to me wearing his camo jammies, his super cool sunglasses and holding his nerf gun. In a super serious voice he says "I must destroy her". Um..okay buddy. Did your sisters tick you off again. Go get em. Just remember... no face shots.

I still am not sure who he is referring to or if the "her" meant that he feels the need to hunt and destroy the cootie infested human. Regardless, "her" better watch out. Who would want this coming after them in the cold dark night?

Party at Papa and Nana's!

We went to my parents house last night to celebrate my mom's upcoming birthday. It was a blast! We had yummy food and I made the famous Almond cake for dessert. Huge hit! After that we sat around while all the grand kids proceeded to put on a gymnastic show. After a while even the grown ups started participating.

Doofenshmirtz

The title has nothing to do with the post, I just like saying it.
My three almost four year old thinks he is smarter that I am. In his genius little mind he thinks he can get away with fairly cunning behavior. He is stealthy in his planning, he has the details all pinned down. He ponders his course of action and is meticulous with his thoughts. He has only one small down fall, an Achilles heel if you will. He speaks his thoughts out loud. He gives himself away every time and thanks to that one weakness I can head him off every single time. Thus reiterating in his little mind that Mom is the superior being in his compact universe.

Example #1

We have turned Porters fan off at night, it is just too cold. He wants it on, we said no. We go back and forth, him trying to barter the fan on, us standing our ground and saying no. As we are leaving the room he says under his breath (but still very audible) "When you leave the room, I am going to get out of bed, I am going to walk over to the fan, and I am going to turn it ON!". Hmmm... okay buddy, you do know that we KNOW that now so guess what? Dad got the ladder and turned the fan off on the ceiling so you can NOT turn the fan on. Porter had a look of astonishment and frustration. A "How on earth did they know to do that?!" look if you will.

Example # 2

I was leaving to go Visiting Teaching on Tuesday night. Porter likes to go in the car, it doesn't matter where. If the car is leaving the garage, he wants to be in it. Obviously he could not join me that night for various reasons. I open the garage door and he sees his opportunity (we have a child proof door knob on the door and he can not open it). The gates have opened and he is off. He gets as far as opening the sliding door on the van and tries to get in. I pick him up and gently remind him that he can not come. As soon as I put him in the house I turn around and he says "Fine, I am going to go out the front door (a door he can open) and I am going to go back in the garage and I am going to get in the van". Again, thanks for the heads up buddy. Front door locked, check. Garage door shut, check. Very upset little guy watching in horror out the window as the precious van pulls away, check.

One day soon he will learn that mommy and daddy always win.

For Documentation purposes

A couple things I NEED to remember;

- Kenna forgot to get off the bus last Friday. She was playing on the floor and did not see the stop or the fact that her sister and friend got off the bus. The driver knows me and did not want Kenna to get off at a stop that was not hers so she circled around and came back to the stop. It was enough time that Kenna freaked out. She is fine and has learned her lesson really well.

- Weston is 9 months old. Holy Moly... REALLY?!! How did that happen? Well apparently it did and we are still waiting for the teeth to come. I have to admit I am a bit partial to his toothless grin.

- I am in love with Andy and all the help that she gives me. She is the best babysitter for Weston and Porter. She reads as many books as Porter wants and she will just sit there holding Weston on the couch forever. I adore that little girl of mine

- Porter is going to be in Sunbeams soon. When we first moved here the thought of him in Nursery was preposterous now we are into Sunbeams. Brandon made me cry when I over heard him talking to Porter telling him that in a year and a half he will be in kindergarten. It literally took my breath away, I was not ready to hear that.

Milestone

Weston has been crawling/scooting for awhile now. Yesterday I took one of my daycare babies up to nap and when I came down he had made it up the little step from our step down living room. He saw the strap of the high chair and decided he really wanted it. I decided to bribe him with a trail of Puffs so I could see him do it myself. Sure enough the little booger launches himself so he has enough leverage to pull his weight onto the kitchen floor. I keep telling myself that it won't be long now before he is completely mobile. I look forward to it and dread it at the same time.
